Rata is the friendly face behind the admin and marketing at Whitiangler Fishing Charters, making sure everything runs smoothly behind the scenes so each trip is seamless from start to finish.

Growing up at the top of the Coromandel Peninsula, fishing has been part of Rata’s life from a young age. In 2020, she took her passion to the next level and earned her Skipper’s ticket, further deepening her connection to the ocean.

Whether it’s helping to land a big kingfish, exploring the coastline, or cooking up the catch of the day, Rata brings her energy, experience, and love for the sea to everything she does.

When she’s not on the water, you’ll likely find her in the kitchen—turning fresh catches into delicious kai and sharing her creations with friends and whānau.

      Planning your trip

Located only a short 2.5 hour drive from Auckland, in the breath-taking beachside town of Mercury Bay (Whitianga). Whether you are coming with friends, family or a special occasion, we can recommend a range of things to do, and places to stay and dine.

      Plan your journey

Coming from Auckland airport? Hire a car or book a shuttle bus with Go Kiwi Shuttles  or take a short, scenic flight with Barrier Air from Auckland domestic airport. If you are travelling in your own vehicle, enjoy a stop at the Coroglen Tavern via Tairua, or opt for a scenic route up the stunning Thames coast.

      Pack the essentials

Remember to pack warm clothing as it can get cold out on the water, but dont be fooled, as when it heats up, you will want to be well protected so a hat, light clothing, and sunscreen is a must. BYO drinks are  welcome and feel free to bring something for our onboard CobbGrill BBQ.
